Friday 18 December 2020

We’ve made it to the end of the year and the first term! Once again, I find myself bidding farewell to you all, a shorter stint this time but no less enjoyable.  Mrs Robinson will be returning from teaching Year 1 in the new year to take back the reigns.

This week has been full of festive fun, Elves, parties and Christmas jumpers.  Our classroom elf has been inspiring some lovely story telling, I’m sure your children would love to tell you about the adventure he has been on this week.  The advent calendar has also promoted a lot of learning around numbers, counting and ordering beyond 10.

The children have also worked on a little Christmas surprise for you, please see the video below.  They were wonderful and Mrs Howe's musical expertise was put to use.

All the team here would like to say massive thank you for your very generous gifts.  They were both unexpected and very much appreciated.

And so finally I would like to wish a Merry Christmas to you, I hope you all have a lovely break and best wishes for the new year.

Mr da Rocha, Mrs Howe and Mrs Phillips.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Friday 11 December 2020

Hello everyone, it nice to be back, and even nicer to see all the children.

This week, inspired by the wintery weather, we have been looking at what happens to liquids when they get very cold.  The children have observed water freezing and melting and discussed how things are liquids and solids.  Linked with that we have been making our own snowflakes, practising our cutting skills.

We have also carried on with our advent calendar, encouraging their writing skills and practising their numbers, up to and now beyond 10.

The children also performed a puppet show and used these to retell their favourite stories.

The children have also been working on your Christmas surprise.  This will be posted on the blog for you all to see at the end of term.

As it has been quite muddy this week a few children were sent home in spare uniforms, particularly trousers. Could you please check and return any that you may have at home.

Having Christmas Jumper day and our Christmas dinner on the Friday was a perfect end to a lovely week. Have a great weekend and we will see you all for the last week of the term.

Friday 4 December 2020

 Hello all,

This week we have travelled to Lapland on a plane. The children made a pretend aeroplane and took it in turns to be the pilot and served tea as an air hostess.

They have enjoyed a virtual tour of Lapland which finished off on Reindeer ride to see Father Christmas.

They have learnt about Rudolph. He is a girl!!! Male Reindeer loose their Antlers before Christmas.

We started our countdown to Christmas with our Christmas advent calendar. The children took in turns to open the calendar windows and drew pictures of what they have found.

Please do not forget Christmas jumper day on Friday the 11th of December for a donation towards Save the Children.

Have a great weekend!

From the Foundation Team.
