We have continued with Little Red this week and have extended our learning to include our songs and role play. During our circle time the children have been counting the children in the group using different methods. They have counted how many girls and boys separately then all together. We have also continued to identify our own name. They are finding this a bit difficult so please continue to show your child their name written down as often as possible so that they can identify with it. They are really good during these sessions and are excellent at listening and focusing when others are talking. This is an important part of your child's development. Being able to have two way communication and be able to sit amongst others and participate in a group all seems very easy but it is a huge thing to ask of a 3/4 year old.

We have created a family board and would like you to send in a photo of your family for us to display. Please can you only send one that is not precious as the display is at their height and the pictures will be touched continually. If you would prefer you can email your photo and I will print it.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Little Red Riding Hood

This week we have been listening to the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We listened to the story then we wrote our own version on a storyboard. The children enjoyed using expression for the wolf's voice. Next week we will be extending the story with role play, book making, changing the ending and creating our own stories. We will also be learning some new songs about the wolf and little red.

Each term we create art work that is displayed around the school. Our first theme is focused on our outdoor learning. The children used crayons to do rubbings on different surfaces outside and they also weaved foliage onto a weaving frame. I have included some photos of the process and the end result.

The children are now becoming familiar with all the routines of the week and they are beginning to become independent in accessing their learning. We will be supporting them with this over the coming weeks.

During our carpet sessions the children are learning to identify their own names and the names of the children in nursery. Could you please support your with this at home. It would be good if they could begin to recognise their first name.

Get your wellies out, I think we are in for a wet weekend!!!!!!!!!!๐ŸŒง๐ŸŒง

The sun is still with us.

What a busy week we have had in foundation. The children have settled so well and are beginning to relax into their learning.  We  have enjoyed the outdoor area as we continue to have the warm sun. We have started to learn songs for our Harvest coffee morning and the children have enjoyed singing and dancing with Mrs Lawrence. We are really pleased with the way the children are engaging with each other and all the activities. They are confident in asking us for help and also if they are a little unsettled they are comfortable connecting to a familiar adult for support. I have sent home the children's learning journals today so that you can see who their key person is. The book also includes a settling in form with an observation from us of your child's first 2 weeks. Could you please fill in the parent section and return the book on Tuesday so that we can start to use the books in the setting.

I hope you all have a good weekend. We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday.

Welcome

Welcome to our class blog. Please try and get into the habit of looking at the nursery and reception blogs each week. We will be providing you with information about what we have been doing in foundation and also what we will be doing the following week.

The children have settled extremely well into their new routines and they are beginning to connect to other children in the setting. We have spent lots of time establishing routines and supporting the children with their social interactions. We have enjoyed singing songs and have learnt to clap all our friends names.

The children have enjoyed playing outside and I think the sandpit has been a great hit. I hope you have all managed to get through the day without them as we are aware how hard it can be for parents as well. Please speak to me if you have any concerns or question and I will be happy to help if I can.

REMINDERS

Please can you make sure that ALL your child's clothing including shoes are labelled.

Lunch boxes and drink bottles need labelling as some children have the same.

If you have ordered a school meal could you please inform me if you have sent a packed lunch as well as this causes confusion for the children.

Next week we are going to be exploring our outside environment and we are going to create some art for the school display. We are also going to be having PE for the first time with Mr Mills.

I hope you all have a great weekend.
