This week we have really noticed a change in the weather and the children are beginning to notice that the trees are changing colour. We have  looked as the leaves and discussed the changes that are taking place. Autumn is such a lovely time of the year for nature as the colours change so much. We are going to be looking more at the changes over the next few weeks so if you are out and about at the weekend please bring in something that your child notices on a walk.  On another note I am sure you are all aware that the children have had many changes of clothes this week. We allow the children to play outside with coats on and I am sure you can appreciate that they inevitably get wet or muddy. Please be reassured that we do not have a problem with this and are happy to change them into the spare clothes so that they are comfortable. What we do ask is if you could return the clothes to us ASAP so that we can use them again.
Have a good weekend.

We have had another exciting week in Foundation and can’t believe we have only been back a couple of weeks. The children are so established and confident in the setting. They are managing to access resources independently and they are understanding routines and boundaries.

We have been listening to traditional tales and the children have really enjoyed the Gingerbread Man so we have decide we will make our own next week. We are also going to be sending home a library book for them to share with you. We will change this book every Monday so please try to return them regularly.

We have also been learning our Harvest songs and the children have enjoyed singing about fruit and vegetables which you will hear them sing at our Harvest coffee morning on the 11th October.

I would like to collect some photographs of all our families so that we can display them in the room. The children love to share photographs with each other so we would like to create a family gallery. Please bring them in next week.

Have a great weekend.

We have had a fantastic week in nursery and the children are continuing to establish themselves in their new environment. We have been observing their interactions and we have all spent time getting to know each other. It is really helpful that the reception children are established as this gives the new children a sense of security knowing that they can do what the other children are doing. This is also a good time for the reception children as they take on the responsibility of  supporting and showing the new children how we do things and how things work. This is truly one of the benefits of working as a Foundation unit.
I have given you all a settling in form to fill out which will go into their learning journal. Please can you return this to me by Monday.
The children do not need to bring in drinking bottles with water as we use our own at nursery. The children are very self sufficient with this task and we are encouraging them to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Next week we are going to be creating some art work around wall art and we will be looking at the artist Banksy.
If you have any recycling bits could you please bring them in as the children use them for making models. This can include : plastic bottles, boxes, yoghurt pots etc.
Have a great weekend.

What a fantastic start we have had in nursery this week. The children have settled well and have enjoyed all the new experiences on offer in the setting. I hope it has not been too stressful for you all as I know how it feels to leave your child for the first time. Please be reassured that if your child is upset we will endeavour to sort it and comfort them. We will also contact you if they do not settle as we are happy for you to adjust their hours until they are settled.
I have put some photographs on the blog to show you what we have been doing this week.
We look forward to seeing you next week.
