HOT HOT HOT

We could not believe it when we came to school on Tuesday and discovered that all the pegs had vanished from the wall and all the chairs were missing. We had to call the police!

Luckily, they came and helped us look for clues to solve the mystery. We found colourful bird feathers, food wrappers, shiny objects, cups and balloons on the pirate ship outside.

We came to the conclusion that the pirates had held a party on the ship and, because it was a stormy night, they had hidden in the outdoor classroom and perhaps played musical chairs. Mr Mills later read the poster about the missing chairs and found them there!

The children wrote letters, counted the missing chairs and predicted which items would fit through a small window. There was lots of excitement and many amazing ideas shared throughout the week.

Storytelling and imaginative play are a vital part of learning in the Early Years. Through engaging mysteries and exciting adventures, children develop their communication and language skills, creativity, problem-solving abilities and confidence.

  Sports Day Fun and More!

What a joyful week it has been in EYFS! the weather was perfect for our Sports Day and it was a fantastic success. The children showed amazing energy, teamwork, and determination throughout all the events. We were so pleased with their enthusiasm and perseverance, and it was lovely to see so many smiles and cheers from everyone involved. A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who came along to support – your encouragement meant the world!

HUGE REMINDER

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE can you check your child's cardigans at home. We have  14  unclaimed cardigans that have no names in and have many that are missing that do have names in. These cardigans are not in school and must have gone home by mistake by other children. ALL CLOTHING SHOULD HAVE CLEAR LABELS IN THEM. A BIRO WILL NOT LAST AND WASHES OUT. From September please make sure that everything is labelled. We can not take responsibility for clothing with no names.

Have a good weekend

LIFE CYCLES

Our Caterpillar Adventure Begins!

This week, the children were very excited to welcome some special new visitors to our classroom – caterpillars! We have begun a fascinating life cycle journey and will be carefully observing how our tiny caterpillars grow and change over the coming weeks before eventually transforming into beautiful butterflies.

The children have already shown great curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and sharing their ideas about what might happen next. This hands-on experience provides a wonderful opportunity to develop their understanding of the natural world, encouraging observation skills, discussion, and a sense of wonder as they witness this amazing process firsthand.

Although the weather has been particularly wet this week, it certainly hasn't stopped our outdoor learning. The children have continued to enjoy exploring and learning outside, making the most of the fresh air and outdoor environment. From investigating puddles and observing the effects of the rain to engaging in imaginative play and physical activities, the children have demonstrated resilience, enthusiasm, and a love of learning regardless of the weather.

We are looking forward to sharing updates on our caterpillars' progress and watching this incredible transformation together!

Spiders

Certainly! Here's a more detailed and parent-friendly EYFS blog entry:

Spiders and Webs Week 🕷️🕸️

We have had a wonderful week exploring the fascinating world of spiders and webs. The children have been fully engaged in a variety of hands-on activities, helping them to learn more about these amazing creatures while developing key skills across the EYFS curriculum.

Throughout the week, the children enjoyed learning and singing spider-themed songs, which helped to build their confidence, listening skills, and language development. They enthusiastically joined in with actions and repeated key vocabulary related to spiders and their habitats.

Our creative area was buzzing with activity as the children designed and made their own spiders and webs using a range of materials. These activities supported their fine motor development, creativity, and problem-solving skills as they carefully constructed their creations.

The children also discovered many interesting facts about spiders. We learned that spiders have eight legs, spin silk to make webs, and use their webs to catch food. The children were curious and asked thoughtful questions, showing great enthusiasm for learning about the natural world around them.

One of the most exciting outcomes of our spider topic has been seeing the children's growing confidence. At the beginning of the week, some children were quite nervous about spiders and would often scream or move away when they saw one. Through stories, discussions, songs, and learning more about spiders, many children have become much more comfortable and are now able to observe them with curiosity rather than fear.

It has been lovely to watch the children develop their knowledge, creativity, and confidence while exploring this exciting topic. We are very pleased with  how engaged they have been and look forward to seeing where their curiosity takes them next!
