We made it

Well we survived and didn't melt in the heat. It has been a very strange week as the children have been inside all day. Although the air conditioning system kept us all cool it completely changed our normal routines. Thank goodness the temperature has dropped and for our last morning we are going to be outside the whole time.

We would like to thank you for our wonderful gifts that are much appreciated. We would also like to wish the children who are going to other schools good luck. We know that they will settle well into their new schools.

Have a great and safe summer and we look forward to seeing you all in September.

Our final full week

It is our final full week in nursery and the children have enjoyed lots of learning with their reception friends who will be moving into year 1 in September. Transition is very simple for our children as they will be moving carpets only so they do not need any extra preparation for this move. On Thursday we had a visit from some new children who will be joining our class and it was lovely to see them take the children by the hand and show them around the unit. Our children will become the older children and with that comes responsibility. They know they have to be kind and caring to our new friends and I know that they will be excellent with that responsibility.

We finally managed to pull up the potatoes and pick the beans on Friday. The children cleaned the vegetables and we cooked them so that they could taste them. They were all very excited to clean and cook but not so keen to try. We always encourage them to have a go, but not all could be persuaded.

The children have been playing a game with a blind fold, they have been using their sense of taste and smell to identify things presented to them. They managed to identify most of the substances.

At the end of the day we are looking forward to seeing some of you at the summer event on the fields. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Friday 8 July 2022

We are very excited that Miss Chandler has given birth to a baby boy called Alby. I am sure the children will be very excited to see the photographs on Monday as they have been observing the timeline of  the pregnancy. We wish the family all our best for the wonderful sleepless nights!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No news on the butterflies but we are still eagerly awaiting their arrival. The children have been very busy this week being creative. We have discussed what creativity means and they have learnt that it is about using our imaginations in everything we do. They have applied these skills this week with lots of story telling and role play.

Next week the children will be bringing their learning journals home. These books will have your child's report inside.

We are also having our transition day on Thursday. This is when the children move up to their new class for an hour. We are very lucky in foundation as your children will only be moving carpets hahahahha.

Transitions

We have had a very busy week. The caterpillars have now built their cocoons and they are ready to go into the butterfly house to spend some time before they become butterflies. The children are very excited and eagerly await the transformation so watch this space. The potatoes are ready to be pulled out of the ground and the beans are ready to be picked which we will be doing next week. We are going to cook the potatoes and beans for the the children to eat.

We are  approaching the end of term and we are looking forward to supporting reception as they move into year one. We will be welcoming our new nursery children into the setting and I am sure that our existing nursery will welcome them into the unit. They had a visit this week and it made me realise just how much our children have grown.

We hope that next week the weather continues to be kind to us and we can continue to enjoy outside learning.

Have a great weekend.
