I cant believe we are now approaching the Easter holidays and how different it feels from last year.

We can only hope  looking forward that we can enjoy the Spring and Summer months with some optimism.

This week we have learnt about the Easter story and have started to observe the changes that are taking place in the environment. The flowers are beginning to grow and the blossom is coming out. The children have painted and created observational pictures of the flowers that are growing around them.

We have really noticed a difference in how they play this week. The weather has impacted on this as the children have been outside without coats, hats and gloves, this has allowed them more movement and it is clearly evident through observation that they are now like lambs that have just been sheared, jumping and bouncing around. Their interactions have really moved on and they are using problem solving skills independently with their play and social interactions. It is a wonderful thing to observe.

We are going to be planting seeds when we return so that we can observe growth and change.

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter break and we look forward to seeing you soon.

SUPERHEROES

The children have settled well into nursery and all seem very happy to be back with their friends. We are observing them to identify any gaps in their development but so far we are finding that they have stepped right back into where they were before lockdown. There are a few little boundary and behavior issues but we will have this sorted very soon.

This week we have had superheroes in Foundation. The children have created their own super powers and have been practicing using them in the setting. This topic has stimulated their imaginations and helped them understand and engage in make belief which is such an important part of their development.  They have written about their super powers and how they will use them to help others. I told them I had a super power and they had to guess what it was. I was wearing gloves and had some metal objects on the floor, I moved my magic hands across the objects and they lifted off the ground. The children were fascinated and could not believe that I was magnetic. I was quite surprised myself with how convincing it was.  Maybe you can all find some super powers this weekend. If you do please send a photo in to me via Teams please.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Welcome back.

Welcome back, we are so pleased to see all the children in the setting and they have all had a great week of excitement getting back into  routines and learning.  We have been doing lots of science activities this week and the children have learnt so much through experimenting and problem solving.

We have been learning about bubbles, magnets, rockets, gravity, metal detection, outdoor cooking with mud and lots of other scientific investigations. We have done all this whilst playing which is what makes early years an amazing place for learning.

Next week we are going to be learning about Superheroes and I am sure your children may end up with super powers by the end of the week.

REMINDERS

Your child should have a drinking bottle with them every day. This should only have water in it and not juice.

Please can you return any spare clothes as we are running out already.

Have a great weekend.
