This week we have been discussing the importance of equality. We have learnt how important it is to have an understanding of how we should respond fairly to the individual needs and identities of all others. Allowing everyone the opportunity to have an equal chance to live their lives as they choose.

During carpet sessions we have been describing our friends. The children were good at identifying what's on the outside eg hair colour and clothes. We helped the children to describe what was on the inside. They were very good at this and were able to identify kindness, happiness and other emotions. They even picked up on some of the activities certain children liked to do.

Although equality has been our school focus this week it is something that we try to embed in all our daily teaching.

We hope you have a great break and look forward to seeing you on the 1st November.

CONKERS

We have had another busy week of learning in foundation. The children have enjoyed creating with the junk boxes, tape and scissors. Could you please send in your recyclable boxes and plastics to us as we use so many every day.

The children have been using conker's, acorns and leaves to count and make patterns. Thank you to all parents who have brought these in for us to use, they are a fantastic resource.

We have started to learn about the Gingerbread man and the children have been learning some song to help with the sequence of the story. We have also spent time playing games with our names. Please continue to support your child to recognise their name at home.

The trees are really changing, and Autumn is definitely with us. We are going to go for a walk on Monday around the grounds to observe the changes that are taking place.  Can you please make sure your child has some wellie boots for school as the ground is now beginning to become wet.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Regards

Mrs Robinson:)

Welcome to our nail bar.

Its was lovely to see some of you at the Harvest coffee morning today. The children have enjoyed practicing the songs throughout  the week and I think you will agree they performed really well.

This week we have made a wormery with the children as they have been investigating the habitats of worms in our garden. The children can now watch the trails that the worms make as they move around the wormery.

We have  been observing the changes in the trees as they start to change colour. The children will continue to observe and record this over the next few weeks.

The children have enjoyed junk modeling using recyclable boxes. Could you please bring in your recycle stuff so that the children can be creative with them. They have made robots and have used scissors, tape, paper and string to create all sorts of amazing things.

On the 7th October it was  National Poetry Day. We celebrated this day by writing a poem about a rainbow and we read lots of rhyming books that the children really enjoyed as they could join in with the verses.

I think the highlight of the week has been our new nail bar. We have observed the children making nails using playdough, for each other so we decided to make our own nail bar in the setting. It has created an amazing learning environment where the children chat and practice communication and language whilst interacting with each other. It is a very exciting for me to see how they are absorbed in high quality play based on real life experiences. I have even had my nails done and Mrs Custis also had a manicure this week.

Please send in your family photo if you have not already done so.

Have a great weekend.
