New Beginnings

Welcome back and what a week we have had. The children have enjoying exploring new areas that we created for them. This includes a hospital, dinosaur land, and office and a restaurant. All of these areas  support your child's holistic development. The children have engaged with each other which has shown their ability to problem solve and negotiate through verbal and non verbal communication. We have observed their interactions which have been amazing. We look forward to seeing these areas develop over the next few weeks.

On Friday we had a math's day which we are going to continue to focus on next week. The children used different resources which supported problem solving.

Next week

Thursday, March 3rd is World Book day. This is a day that the children really look forward to. As usual the children can come dressed as one of their favourite book characters (no football strips please) and they will be carrying out lots of activities related to books chosen by their class teachers throughout the day.  This is a very important event because being able to read well is one of the most important skills that a child can acquire and promoting it in a fun and exciting way helps us to promote this message.

Please speak to me if you have any concerns regarding this.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

We made it!!!!!!

We have made it to the end of the week!!!!!!!! I always feel that this holiday splits the bad weather and dark days with new beginnings. After the holidays we are going to be looking at Spring and all the new life that it brings.

This week we have been learning about staying safe on the internet. It was clear that the children had a good understanding about certain things that they can do and also what they should do if they see anything that scares or upsets them when they are using electronic devices. We watched a short video which demonstrated what they should do if they press the wrong buttons. All the children know that they must inform an adult if they feel uncomfortable or see something that scares them when they are online.

It has also been children's mental health week. This is something that we work on every week and not just on isolated occasions. We have discussed our feelings and we are fortunate that our children are excellent at expressing their emotions in a safe and secure environment. We continue to support each other with all our emotional needs so that we can be happy within ourselves.

Below is the link for the parent consultations which will be help on Tuesday 22nd February. If you have not booked a slot please do so ASAP.

I hope you all have a fabulous healthy week and we look forward dot seeing after the holidays.

Happy New Year

This week we have been reading the story of The Enormous Turnip. The children have really understood the sequence of the story and have enjoyed pulling the turnip out of the ground. We are going to continue with the turnip next week and see if the children can create their own version.

There has been lots of dragon dancing in the unit this week to celebrate Chinese New Year. The children have been very creative using red and gold resources to represent good luck. We also cooked some noodles and tried to eat them with chop sticks.

Next week will be our last week before the holidays. We are going to be looking at some of the changes that are beginning to happen as we move closer to spring. It is also children's mental heath week and on Tuesday it is  safer internet day. We will be  using these themes throughout the week.

Please make sure you have signed up for your parent consultation and speak to me if you need any more information about this.

Have a great weekend.
