What has happened to the weather?

Another busy week in foundation, the children have been learning poems about Autumn. We have used the conkers that they have been bringing to school for maths activities and they are really enjoying using natural resources in this way.

During our circle time the children have been counting the children in the group using different methods. They have counted how many girls and boys separately then all together. We have also started to try and identify our own name. They are finding this a bit difficult so please try to show your child their name written down as often as possible so that they can identify with it. We are working at sitting together in a group. This is an important part of your child's development. Being able to have two way communication and be able to sit amongst others and participate in a group all seems very easy but it is a huge thing to ask of a 3/4 year old.

We have created a family board and would like you to send in a photo of your family for us to display. Please can you only send one that is not precious as the display is at their height and the pictures will be touched continually. If you would prefer you can email your photo and I will print it.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Hello all,

As Autumn approaches, we are looking at some of the changes that are starting to take place in the environment.

This week our focus story in Nursery was Little Red Riding Hood. The children used props to act out the story which was lots of fun . We have also begun learning the songs related to the story.

The children are now becoming familiar with all the routines of the week and they are beginning to become independent in accessing their learning. We will be supporting them with this over the coming weeks.

During group sessions, we have been counting objects with one to one correspondence. The children used acorns and conkers for counting activities. If you are out for a walk with your children, please collect some natural resources for play and maths activities such as conkers, pinecones, acorns, leaves and bring them to school.

We would also appreciate if you could bring some boxes from your recycling bin for junk modelling. The children are very creative and would love to turn the boxes into robots, mobile phones and other objects to support their play.

Have a great weekend!

  WELCOME

What a fantastic start we have had in nursery this week. The children have settled well and have enjoyed all the new experiences on offer in the setting. I hope it has not been too stressful for you all as I know how it feels to leave your child for the first time. Please be reassured that if your child is upset we will endeavour to sort it and comfort them. We will also contact you if they do not settle as we are happy for you to adjust their hours until they do.

Please can you make sure that jumpers, bottles and lunch boxes are clearly labelled with your child's name, as all the children wear the same jumpers and are not always the best at looking after their belongings at this age.

I have put some photographs on the blog to show you what we have been doing this week.

We look forward to seeing you next week.
Mrs Robinson:)
