Great
British Birdwatch Week at Nursery π¦
This week at nursery we have been taking part in the Great British Birdwatch, and the children have loved learning all about the birds we can spot around us. We talked about why birds are important, where they live, and how we can look after them, especially during the colder months.
The children enjoyed exploring books and pictures of different birds and learning their names. We then got creative by making our own binoculars using recycled materials. These were very exciting to use and helped the children feel like real birdwatchers!
Using our homemade binoculars, we headed outside into our outdoor area to see what birds we could find. The children carefully looked up into the trees, listened for bird sounds, and tried to identify the birds they could see. We talked about colours, sizes, and movements, supporting the children to describe what they noticed.
This activity encouraged curiosity, observation skills, and lots of wonderful discussion. It was lovely to see the children so engaged with nature and working together to spot birds. We will continue to look out for birds in our outdoor area and build on this learning over the coming weeks.
