I am very happy to be back at work after an illness which has taken a while for me to recover from. It was so nice to see the children and they all seemed happy for me to be back. This week we have been focusing on our phonics and have used initial sounds to play games. We have played what's in the bag and have also played I spy. The children are now recognising their own name and are learning to recognise the other children's names in the group.
Following on from the children's interests we have carried out a volcano experiment. The children were fascinated with the eruption, and we have looked at books and researched on the internet interesting facts about erupting volcanos.
Next week we are going to be changing the room around to prepare for some winter activities. We have also started to learn our Christmas song so apologies if they start singing them every day.
